Bonnet House Museum & Gardens

Established by Fredric Clay Bartlett in 1920, the South Florida-based museum is one of the most elegant places you should visit. Fredric Clay aimed to create a historic museum to conserve the environment and also have a learning hub in it.

The non-profit organization’s main objective is to preserve the art and history of Bonnet House, which will inspire the upcoming generation. It’s worth noting that the ground had experienced more than 4,000 years of Florida’s rich cultural history before Taylor Birch acquired the property in 1895.

The house’s modern history started when the owner gave his daughter Helen and her husband Clay Bartlett in 1919, as a wedding gift. Clay made a few visits to the house until he married Fortune Lilly. Fortune and Clay started decorating the house, attracting thousands of visitors every year.

You can find unique ecosystems primarily found in South Florida on this property, including freshwater slough and mangrove wetlands.

Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale

Located in the heart of Downtown, Riverwalk Park boasts historic banks that are said to have been brought by Native Americans and early settlers.

Initially, Riverwalk served as the birthplace of Fort Lauderdale, featuring multiple shops and winding walkways. The project, which was mainly funded by private entities and the federal government, is known for combining history and arts businesses.

Riverwalk Park’s dream would become true in 1986 when the residents sought $8 million. Over the years, the seed funding has encouraged more private investment, with many committing to redevelop the New River. Today, Riverwalk is home to various cultural and entertainment businesses, hosting more than 10,000 residents.
